Juvenile Justice Systems: Shortcomings and Necessary Interventions

This session will focus on juvenile justice systems in South Asia, giving an outline of the systems in India, Sri Lanka and Pakistan. The speakers will speak about the shortcomings of the systems with particular focus on access to adequate representation for children in conflict with law. Through an interactive breakout room session that includes case study based exercises, attendees will understand the lack of support for these children from multiple stakeholders and the importance of interventions by CSOs. Examining the system through case study will help make the conversation more specific and practical, rather than purely theoretical.
