Bio: Michael Wells is a former school teacher, having taught in the United Kingdom’s and Australia’s public education systems. He has special interests in community engagement programs that empower those disadvantaged by socio-economic circumstances. Michael’s work in reducing high school attrition rates of Australian Aboriginal students was a spring board into devoting his own personal time to pro bono work. Driven to empower others, he has won an international leadership award for establishing sustainable high school agricultural plots that have lowered youth unemployment rates in low socio-economic areas. Transitioning from teaching into a legal career, Michael has maintained his commitment to community engagement by volunteering in learning centres teaching disadvantaged youth.
