Uranzaya Batdorj
LLM, a Founder of Nomad Lawyer LLC in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia.
My name is Uranzaya Batdorj, LLM, a Founder of Nomad Lawyer LLC in Ulaanbaatar, Mongolia.
While my core legal practice focuses on corporate, business, and commercial law, my most meaningful work has emerged from lived experience and grassroots community connection.
Over the past decade, I have contributed pro bono legal research and policy insights to international publications, including the World Bank’s Doing Business and Women, Business and the Law reports—efforts that reflect my long-term commitment to improving the legal and regulatory environment in Mongolia.
During the COVID-19 pandemic and my maternity leave, I launched a grassroots pro bono initiative to support women—especially mothers—facing legal challenges such as domestic violence, custody disputes, and unregistered marriages. Through digital platforms, I provided over 800 hours of free legal advice to individuals aged 16 to 72, many in remote areas with limited access to legal services.
These experiences have shown me that effective legal aid must be personalized, empathetic, and practical, while also backed by institutional frameworks to ensure long-term sustainability.
I’m honored to participate in this session and to exchange strategies for building inclusive, institutionalized pro bono systems that strengthen justice, empower communities, and advance human rights across the region.”
As for the photo, I’m not sure if it’s a photo that meets the requirements for participating in an international conference for the first time, so please let me know if it’s not possible. I’ll take a photo with Mongolian attorney`s uniform and send it.
