Itaru Matsuno is the Director of UNESCO Peace Education Promotion at Nagoya Keizai University Ichimura High School in Japan. He is a passionate educator dedicated to Education for Sustainable Development (ESD) and global citizenship. Mr. Matsuno is the driving force behind the award-winning EDU-PORT Nippon project, recognized by the Japanese Ministry of Education (MEXT), which connects high school students in Japan and Taiwan to collaborate on real-world justice issues such as refugee rights and poverty alleviation. Guided by the UNESCO preamble, “Since wars begin in the minds of men, it is in the minds of men that the fortress of peace must be constructed,” he specializes in using interactive digital tools and cross-border partnerships to cultivate a “Pro Bono Mindset” in youth.
