Advocate, Nirmal Kumar Upreti is a young human rights defender and youth activist from Nepal who has more than 12 years of professional experiences in human rights, migration, access to justice, disaster, youth, development, peace, and SRHR. He has completed LL.M and MA English.

Mr. Upreti has contributed to establishing the Youth Policy-2010 and has worked on Peace Process of Nepal by engaging himself in the Maoist Army Reintegration Process in 2012. He also worked with Foreign Employment Board, Ministry of Labor, Employment and Social Security of for three and a half years. In addition, he is expert in providing pro bono legal services to the earthquake victims. In his leadership, Forum for Nation Building Nepal an NGO of young professionals dedicated for the nation-building initiatives has been shortlisted for the 2018 PILnet Pro Bono Local Impact Award and finalist of 2017 Justice Prize Competition.

Mr. Upreti is one of the pioneers of Community Mobile Legal Clinic project in Nepal. His innovative project has awarded with UNDP Success Story in 2010. He is the founder president and currently the patron of Nepalese Law Students’ Association (NeLSA), an umbrella organization of Nepali law students.
