Kyi Suu is a lawyer from Myanmar and Country Program Manager for International Bridges to Justice (IBJ) in Myanmar. She began her legal career in a pro bono law firm in Mandalay focusing on labour rights, and joined IBJ in 2018, where she held legal research and program coordination roles before assuming her current leadership position in 2020.

Kyi Suu leads IBJ Myanmar’s national program, overseeing strategic initiatives to strengthen rule of law, access to justice, and sustainable legal aid systems. She manages a multidisciplinary team of over 40 staff and works closely with hundreds of pro bono lawyers, as well as youth, students, and civil society organizations to expand access to criminal defense services. Her work focuses on designing legal aid programs, pro bono governance frameworks, and integrated justice ecosystem models through partnerships with bar associations, universities, and government stakeholders, including engagement with and support to government legal aid bodies.

She has designed internship and apprenticeship programs for lawyers and law students in the areas of clinical legal education, pro bono, and legal aid, and has led public legal awareness initiatives, advocacy training for pro bono lawyers, and the development of case referral mechanisms and holistic legal aid models, including humanitarian support services linked to IBJ’s justice centres.

Kyi Suu is actively engaged in promoting pro bono movements in Myanmar and participates in regional initiatives such as the Asia Pro Bono Roundtable. Her work also includes working in drug harm reduction advocacy and drug justice fellowship programs. In addition, she serves as a trainer on human rights, transitional justice, and international criminal law.

Kyi Suu holds a Master of Laws (LL.M.) from the University of Mandalay and is currently pursuing a Master of Arts (M.A.) in Human Rights at the University of London. She also studied at Uppsala University as an Erasmus Scholarship awardee and has contributed to research with the Raoul Wallenberg Institute on Civil Documentation and Statelessness issues in Myanmar, as well as to the Rule of Law Handbook for Civil Society Organizations in Myanmar published by Konrad-Adenauer-Stiftung.
