Pro Bono as Capital: Rethinking Support, Trust and Funding in a Time of Polycrisis
This session explores how pro bono work can go beyond stand-alone service to help civil society organisations strengthen their financial resilience. With economic pressures, climate challenges, and shifting funding landscapes, many organisations face financial fragility even when delivering strong results. Previously a clear ethical line has been drawn between pro bono engagement and fundraising. The session will examine whether that important distinction has become too limiting in today’s funding reality.
Through practical examples and collaborative discussion, attendees will gain a clear understanding of how non-financial pro bono support can complement funding, enhance organisational stability, and increase the impact of civil society projects.
