The Role of Lawyers in Strengthening the Foundations of Nonprofit Organizations: Focusing on Pro Bono Matching and Risk Management Support

This session explores how pro bono legal support can help nonprofits operate more effectively and sustainably. Participants will learn how legal service providers contribute to governance, risk management, and program oversight, drawing on case studies from BLP-Network, which matches legal service providers with nonprofits, and Japan Public Interest Networks (JANPIA), which manages grant programs using dormant bank accounts.

Through practical examples and a panel discussion, attendees will examine the role of pro bono in supporting nonprofit growth, ensuring legal compliance, and building stronger organizations that can better serve their communities.
