Shubhangi Singh

Lead Officer – Training and Program Development, South Asia Women Foundation India

Shubhangi (They/She) is a human rights defender committed to advancing gender justice through feminist engagement with law and its practice. Their work is rooted in a vision of justice that centers Human dignity, collective-care, meaningful participation and institutional accountability—aligned with SDGs 5, 8, and 16. While being rooted in ground realities that law and justice delivery mechanisms are not always neutral and often shaped to reinforce status quo of unequal power relations.

They have led and contributed to social justice initiatives across India through a queer-feminist lens, nurturing rights-based and inclusive pro bono practices among lawyers, grassroots paralegals, and crisis intervention groups. They have intervened in cases of gender and identity-based violence and systemic exclusions as well as strengthened capacities among diverse stakeholders of civil society and local governance on intersectionality approach, human rights and fair and responsive institutions.

Currently with SAWF IN, a women’s fund, Shubhangi advances the organisation’s mandate of engaging with the domestic philanthropic ecosystem for long-term and trust-based resource commitments for women and queer-led initiatives at grassroots focused on justice solutioning. She also leads their legal fellowship, which nurtures young lawyers at the frontlines to become justice champions and evolve local inclusive pro bono practices.
