Using Women, Peace and Security Norms to Advance Access to Justice: Practical Strategies for Pro Bono Legal Service Providers

This session explores how the Women, Peace and Security (WPS) agenda, originating from United Nations Security Council Resolution 1325, can serve as a practical normative framework that pro bono actors can use to support accountability, legal advocacy, and survivor-centered justice initiatives.

The session highlights ways pro bono legal and advisory support can complement these efforts, helping ensure that women and vulnerable populations can exercise their rights. Through discussion and examples, attendees will consider how WPS principles intersect with issues such as climate resilience, economic security, and disaster response, and explore strategies to use pro bono work to strengthen justice.
