The Role of Lawyers in Strengthening the Foundations of Nonprofit Organizations: An Example Case Focusing on Pro Bono Matching, and Risk Management Support Funded by the Japan's Dormant Deposit Program

Strengthening the foundation of nonprofit organizations through governance and risk management is crucial for their activities and development. This session will discuss the role of lawyers in strengthening nonprofit foundations and examine case studies from BLP-Network’s nonprofit matching platform, as well as risk management support provided in collaboration with Japan Network for Public Interest Activities (General incorporated foundation) to discuss the role of lawyers.

BLP-Network (Business Lawyers Probono Network) is a network of lawyers to support legal aspects of nonprofit organizations. One of BLP-Network’s core activities is to provide a platform to match those organizations and our member lawyers. JANPIA operates grant and investment programs utilizing dormant bank accounts in Japan.
