Service Learning through Pro Bono

This session illustrates how service learning can be integrated into student pro bono activities through OPGO Assist, a project in collaboration with Singapore’s Ministry of Social and Family Development’s Office of the Public Guardian (OPG). Students support deputies to file their mandatory annual reports, gaining practical experience while helping ensure legal compliance.

Participants will learn about mental capacity law in Singapore, including the lasting power of attorney and deputyship, and consider how similar legal instruments could work in their own countries. The session will cover student roles, practical tasks, and strategies for using service learning to strengthen both education and pro bono impact.
