Marlene Halpern
Director of Pro Bono Services at Center for Reproductive Rights
Marlene Halpern joined the Center for Reproductive Rights (“Center”) in 2013 and is responsible for developing, maintaining, and expanding relationships with law firms to leverage effective legal support for the US and Global Legal programs. Under her stewardship the valuation of contributed pro bono services has grown from $4.8 million to more than $13 million annually. She has spoken extensively on pro bono partnerships and prior to joining the Center was the Supervising Attorney for Pro Bono with The Legal Aid Society. A long-time public interest attorney, Halpern was the Family Law Coordinator for Legal Services for NYC, a senior welfare policy analyst with Children’s Defense Fund –NY, and an assistant clinical law professor at Hofstra Law School. She is a lecturer-in-law with Columbia Law School, where she co-teaches the Externship on Pro Bono Practice and Design.
