Information about Fee Waivers and Fee Reductions
The starting point is that all attendees to the Conference must pay a registration fee, this applies equally to everyone including the volunteer organisers and presenters. This is because the registration fees pay for the costs of running the Conference, which is very high in Hong Kong.
But in recognition that the requirement to pay the full registration fee may cause some attendees financial hardship or otherwise prohibit them from attending and contributing to the Conference, the registration fee or part of it may be waived on the basis of the attendee’s need and merit (“Fee Waiver”). If you wish to apply for a Fee Waiver, please register for the Conference in the usual way and tick the “Apply for Fee Waiver” box. You can complete the registration without paying. After that you must then submit additional information to support your application through the form at the bottom of this page.
Fee waivers can be partial or full, and the number and amount of fee waivers are subject to available funds. Therefore they can only be determined closer to the Conference date. This process is the same as previous years. We will, however, endeavour to determine applications as soon as funds are identified, so it pays to register and apply early (through the form below). If you apply and are ultimately unsuccessful, you may cancel your Conference registration without penalty.
Information about the Inclusion Fund
In recognition that flying to and staying in Hong Kong for the Conference is a comparatively expensive process, we have started an Inclusion fund. The Inclusion Fund is a discretionary fund that will provide delegates, who have a genuine need and merit such assistance, with money or in-kind donations to meet some or all of the accommodation and/or air travel expenses associated with attending the Conference. The amounts are not fixed, but are subject to stringent rules and strict criteria as there is limited funds available.
If you wish to apply for the Inclusion Fund, please register for the Conference in the usual way and tick the “Apply for Inclusion Fund” box. You can complete the registration. After that you must then submit additional information to support your application through the form at the bottom of this page.
The number of grants and amount of money disbursed by the Inclusion fund is ultimately subject to available funds provided by Conference sponsors and donors. Therefore, applications will be determined once funds are identified, which may take some time. If you apply and are ultimately unsuccessful, you will be contacted and you may cancel your Conference registration without penalty.
For the avoidance of doubt, the Inclusion Fund is not available to people resident in Hong Kong. The Fee Waiver and Inclusion Fund are also two separate and independent funds with different conditions and criteria. The granting of one does not automatically give you the other (or vice versa). Attendees may apply for one or both.

However, we are still accepting applications for fee reductions (only) and you may apply by filling in the form below. We retain a discretion to approve late applications on a case by case basis, if exceptional circumstances can be shown and subject to available funds.
