This event will explore the role of legal professionals in critical cross-border pro bono contexts, drawing upon the experience of UNHCR with the immigration detention of children in various jurisdictions around the world as well as The Global Pro Bono Bar Association’s collaborative approach to meeting current needs in cross-border pro bono legal support. This event is a networking opportunity to meet different women’s groups and lawyers who support the women’s movement. The event will start off with a panel discussion about how men and lawyers can support the women’s movement. The panelists, who are all active in their own right with different groups that work on women’s issues, will share with the audience how they got involved and will also share details of the work that they do. The lawyers will share why they think pro bono support is important in the women’s movement and the men on the panel will talk about their experiences as male supporters of the women’s movement.
