Storytelling for Social Justice: Housing Insecurity and Forced Evictions in India

This session explores how to use storytelling to understand the realities of and advocate for the rights of those living under the threat of illegal eviction through iProbono’s intervention. iProbono provides holistic counsel with a strong, lean team that delivers strategic direction and execution, while also leveraging the expertise and commitment of a wide community of pro bono lawyers.
Presenters will explain the importance and power of storytelling and discuss curating stories for a particular audience. This will be followed by a video presentation of forced eviction cases that iProbono supported with and a photo story depicting the realities and challenges of living in an informal settlement.
The session will conclude with an activity where participants will tell stories based on a fact situation provided to them. By the end of the session, participants will be able to use storytelling as a tool to advocate for social change.
